VOLUNTEER TUTOR COORDINATOR CHELSEA COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER CENTER (CCVC)
The Chelsea Human Services Collaborative seeks an individual to fill a position of Coordinator for Chelsea Community Volunteer Center effective July 1, 2001. Specific responsibilities will include:
! Implement a recruitment plan to recruit volunteer tutors for all CCVC agencies.
! Conduct intake and interview selection process.
! Provide prospective volunteer orientation to CCVC collaborative agencies plus CLC training in tutorial technique.
! Provide ongoing inservice training opportunities in accordance with volunteer tutors needs and interests.
! Coordinate with CCVC agencies staff on placement, work assignments and supervision of volunteer tutors.
! Conduct ongoing program development and evaluation activities; manage budget.
! Represent program at Department of Education, community and agency meetings. Administer SMARTT DataBase as per agreement with Department of Education and CCVC agencies.
Requirements: Demonstrated ability to train and supervise volunteers or staff. Proven organizational skills. Knowledge of the adult education area. Education in human services or related area. 3 years minimum experience in supervision and/or training areas. Experience working with low-income communities of color. Demonstrated ability to work with disadvantaged adults in educational/employment setting. Must be computer literate.
Desired Skills/Experience: BA/BS in Education, Human Services, Management. Experience in adult education or employment and training setting. Teaching/training experience with an adult population. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
The Coordinator should be able to work 37.5 hours/week, with flexible schedule to accommodate evening tutoring. Fringe benefits, including health insurance are included.
