Contact: Please contact the volunteer coordinator to set up an interview. Every volunteer is required to participate in an orientation program.
Services: Emergency shelter, individualized extended stay program, drop-in advocacy, 2 lodging houses, as well as a free beauty salon, parties, outings and in-house entertainment.
Clients: Women
Size: 4 emergency beds + 16 extended beds + up to 130 people per lunch & dinner/22 staff/250 volunteers + 100 caterers.
Donations: New underwear, socks, toiletries, salt & pepper shakers, hats, gloves & mittens, birds. Please call about other ideas you might have.
Volunteers: Monday-Friday/lunch (11 am-1: 30 pm). Monday/Friday/dinner (4:30 pm - 8:30 pm), overnight, or special community trips.
Duties: Preparing & serving meals, interacting with guests important, clothing sorting, overnight supervision, van run, etc. (off-site: meal preparation).
Requirements: We are looking for mature individuals with a strong commitment to helping homeless women and fostering an understanding of the politics of homelessness. Volunteers should have the ability to interact in positive ways with women & children. We encourage volunteers to share any special skills they have to offer.
Drop-off Time: Monday-Friday 10 am - 3 pm.
